Mani Dam - Varahi Hydel Project Scheme for Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd.

A major portion of the dam was constructed by MCC under rigorous weather conditions as this area in Shimoga District receives approximately 800 cms. of rainfall annually. The Mani Dam is dedicated purely to the generation of power. The project involved construction of a composite dam consisting of earthen and rock fill flanks, a non-overflow masonry dam and concrete spillway. 1,00,000 cu.m. of concrete were laid for this work.
